We all have tough times and we all go through ups and downs the same as everyone. You might be usually really optimistic and can reframe challenges quickly, but for some reason just can’t seem to move forward.
You might be feeling a tremendous amount of pressure, overwhelmed or that you are getting hit from all angles. Perhaps you are struggling to focus on your health and fitness goals with the pressures of juggling work, family and friends.
Maybe you’ve been there and can relate?
I was reading a book over the weekend called The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday. There is a passage that inspired me to do the activity that I’m sharing with you today.
You can do these 3 steps really quickly. Within seconds of completing this myself, I felt incredibly empowered, clear and calm. Check it out …
Get out a piece of paper or open up a note in your phone.
Write down all of the things that are bothering you in a numbered list. Put your emotion and feelings into it. Don’t hold back. Share as much detail as you’d like.
Assign each problem to a person in your life who you know. This person should be someone who could have a problem or struggle like this. Write their name down just below what you’ve described as the problem.
One by one, go through your list and imagine the friend or person you care for coming to you with this problem or struggle. Imagine them telling you this exact trouble or situation. Really listen to them. And write down the advice you would give them below their name.
Take a deep breath. Now re-read through them and take the advice that you would give a friend … to yourself!
Then the only thing to do is to put it into action. Leave me a comment below and let me know how that went for you!
